Natrona County Detention Center Renovation and Housing Addition

Cator, Ruma & Associates was selected to provide mechanical and electrical design and contract administration to support a new 45,000-square-foot, 224-bed housing addition to the existing Natrona County Detention Center and remodel of approximately 15,000-square-feet.

The remodel included the laundry, vehicle sally port, intake and booking, and the infirmary.

New electrical distribution equipment was provided to accommodate the new expansion with panelboards being upgraded/replaced in the remodeled areas. The emergency system was expanded and recircuited to serve the new housing wing. Mechanical units were controlled to have minimal load requirements during emergency situations.

Mechanical systems included single zone DX cooling and gas fired heating roof top units. A complete smoke control system was provided for the new housing addition. The existing smoke control system was modified for the remodel areas. New water heaters were provided for the new housing addition.
