Cator, Ruma & Associates was selected to provide the Mechanical and Electrical design and Construction Administration for the design of three new residential buildings to house approximately 1,000 students. The residential buildings are 380,000 square feet with student apartments and three community centers (each with community kitchens), four meeting rooms, and 19 study lounges. The five-story Aggie Village Redevelopment is the largest housing project ever built at Colorado State University to date.

The design intent for all the buildings was to create a global community for students interested in an intercultural experience. With a residential population consisting of international students, graduate students, visiting scholars, post-doctoral fellows, and upper-class undergraduate students, design considerations included furnished apartments and alternative transportation (bike racks, public transportation stops, etc.) with easy pedestrian access to campus. A car-share program on site is currently being considered to add to campus sustainability goals.

Each residence hall achieved LEED Gold certification and incorporates the following sustainable engineering systems: full condensing boiler systems, evaporative cooled chiller, and LED lighting power control.
