Major expansion and renovation to Centura Parker Adventist hospital totaling 103,000 square feet of program space.
Cator, Ruma & Associates provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and information technology design and contract administration for Parker Adventist Hospital’s major expansion and build-out project.
This project, which was completed with GE Johnson and Olson Plumbing and Heating in the spirit of Integrated Project Delivery consisted of a 14,600-square-foot addition to the existing surgery suite along with a shell space build-out for the emergency department. The surgery expansion consisted of four new operating rooms, two shell spaces for future operating rooms, and surrounding support areas. New mechanical and electrical infrastructure was provided to support this expansion, including new chilled water and steam piping connected to the existing mains, a new air handling unit, and new heat exchangers for heating water needs. New distribution panel boards were provided for normal power and emergency power needs. Extra coordination was necessary since the expansion took place while keeping the existing adjacent operating rooms operational.
The existing post anesthesia care unit (PACU) underwent some minor renovations to allow for better workflow.
There was also a 25,600-square-foot shell space build-out in the south patient bed wing for a 24-bed ortho/spine joint unit. Mechanical and electrical distribution was provided for these new patient rooms and support spaces. The existing air handling unit (AHU-10) was rebalanced and commissioned after the renovation was completed.
At the north side of the patient bed wing, there was a 63,000-square-foot single story parking deck addition in order to accommodate the hospital’s need for additional parking. Lighting design and parking garage drains were provided.
