Project description
The Denver Union Station Block A project is a major mixed-use development located at 16th and Wewatta Street, directly adjacent to the city’s iconic Union Station. The project includes a twelve-story luxury hotel, a five-story office building, and seventy-six thousand square feet of mixed-use space with dining, retail, hotel amenities, meeting rooms, ballrooms, fitness areas, a commercial kitchen, and hotel back-of-house functions. The entire development spans approximately 236,000 square feet and is supported by a 77,500-square-foot, two-level underground parking structure.
Cator, Ruma, and Associates provided mechanical and electrical design and construction administration for the entire project. The building program required coordinated systems for hotel guest rooms, restaurant and kitchen operations, ballrooms, office areas, and a variety of specialty spaces that needed different levels of ventilation, power, and environmental control. CRA’s design supported the complex mix of uses while maintaining comfort, efficiency, and architectural intent.
As a highly visible project adjacent to one of Denver’s historic landmarks, coordination with the developer, architect, and contractors was critical. The mechanical and electrical infrastructure was designed to support dense hotel occupancy, commercial kitchens, flexible event spaces, and the office environment while serving the mixed-use podium below.
The result is a cohesive, high-performing development that supports hospitality, workplace needs, retail activity, and guest amenities all within the historic Union Station neighborhood.
