Project description
The Dimond Family Residential Village is a significant addition to the University of Denver campus, providing housing for 500 first-year students, with additional space for upper-level students. The building is one of three key projects in the Denver Advantage Campus Framework Plan and strengthens the University’s goal of creating a more connected and community-centered campus experience.
Cator, Ruma, and Associates provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, and construction administration services for the project. The technology design includes devices and cabling for low-voltage systems, pathways, head-end equipment, and back-box and conduit requirements that support campus-wide connectivity. The mechanical and electrical systems were designed to deliver reliable comfort and energy efficiency in keeping with a LEED NC Gold building.
Architectural lighting design played a significant role in shaping the building’s character. CRA completed multiple rounds of photometric modeling to coordinate light levels, fixture placement, and visual experience with the University’s design standards. The result is a residence hall that blends energy-conscious lighting with comfortable living spaces and active community areas.
The building now serves as a hub for student life, offering modern housing, study areas, lounges, and programming spaces that support engagement and connection among new students.
